Recently, my husband and I had the opportunity to explore the stunning Savannah city! We were there to capture and celebrate a wonderful backyard wedding (images coming soon), and gave ourselves a few days to have some fun after we worked!
We spent one day relaxing at Tybee Island and viewing the lighthouse, and the other days strolling the historic cobblestone streets! Savannah was full of awesome places – we visited vintage stores, a record shop, oddity and antique stores, ate delicious foods, took a haunted pub crawl, and photographed all the lovely nooks and crannies of such a beautiful Southern city!
I found a disposable camera with cat overlays at Urban Outfitters and it was super fun! Great idea, not executed the absolute best, but it was cute! Definitely inspired me to try to create my own!

Working title on a book I hope to publish alongside a friend! I’m keeping the film images under wraps, but I couldn’t resist some instant gratification from with my phone – so voila! Oh, Alabama!

Summer weekends are usually spent at Yellowhammer Brewery, but I don’t discriminate where I can grab a brew and see a great band – so more of this please Huntsville 🙂

I must admit, this year started with quite a bang! My husband and I have been fortunate enough to travel to both Hawaii and Italy…all before Summer! Although we “only” had eight days in the romantic country, we jam packed a ton of great sights and and adventures! We started our trip in Milan, followed by Riomaggiore, Florence, and finally, Rome. Between the architecture, food, and wine, I was in heaven with my favorite travel partner! I brought along my Olympus XA2 and Fuji GA645 to capture the trip in both 35mm and 120mm!
While each city gave us inspiration and great times, my favorite part of the trip was the 12 mile hike we did across all five towns in Cinque Terre. I found Pall’s site, Trekguyd, through Trip Advisor. Not only was he an INCREDIBLE tour guide, but he went above and beyond helping Andy and I secure our train tickets and provided wonderful company while we were in Riomaggoire. His knowledge of the area was just as amazing as the scenery! I highly recommend reaching out to Pall if you visit that area – hands down the best part of the trip! It was an absolutely breathtaking experience being on top of the mountains, looking down at the colorful buildings and acres of vineyards. The entire Cinque Terre area stole my heart and I can’t wait venture there again!
Below is a medley of shots from our stay in Italy! Most of the frames are film, however there are some digital shots sprinkled in (mainly any nighttime photos). Italy is a photographer’s paradise and I can’t wait to explore other regions of the country when we return!

I posted text and the instagram shots about our Kauai experience here, so I’ll get right to the point with these film scans! Yay! PS – I’m also so in love with film…so happy I made this venture back into analog!

I don’t even know where to begin.
Everyone should experience Kauai. While I’m sure every island of Hawaii is stunning, Kauai is absolutely magical! We woke up every morning with the sun rise and started the day breathing the fresh air in our “Thai Garden House“. There were fruit trees surrounding us and an organic garden right outside our doorway. We found Anthony & Hami’s place on airbnb. The pictures and descriptions don’t do the property or hosts justice. Not only did they ensure our stay was comfortable, but they invited us to a potluck at their place (complete with a ukulele and guitar player and hula dancing)! Another huge bonus, we were only a ten minute walk from one of the most gorgeous beaches I’ve ever seen – Moloaa Bay!
We spent time exploring beach towns, hiking in jungles, canoeing a river (which turned into a crazy survival “adventure” – story for another day y’all), swimming in waterfall pools, snorkeling with fish (and eels – eep!), feeding chickens (and cats – they are EVERYWHERE! Yay!), sightseeing canyons, traversing coastlines, eating delicious meals and exotic fruits, and soaking in every single inch of scenery!
I brought along an entire backpack of film (35 and 120mm) and a few of my favorite travel cameras. Thank goodness they still make waterproof disposable cameras (they came in handy during our snorkeling and river days). It was wonderful to re-live every moment when my film scans were sent to me! I was definitely not ready to come home and I cried 4 times when leaving the island. I have a strong feeling that at some point in our lives together, Andy and I will make Kauai our home (in some form or fashion).

Compared to November, December has been a rather quiet month…which is nice! Only a few photo sessions, one final wedding, and lots of holiday prep! The day to day life is shown below!
red, where I stood, silver, tiny (amount of beer compared to the whole store)
in the cupboard, shadow, 6 o’clock, I shop here
weather (cozy), R is for…relaxed, green, Joy is…
composition, drink, lights, makes me feel merry
tree, big, ’tis the season, I’m listening to…Clara Belle and the Creeps!
on the door, sparkly, tradition, wrapped
best bit of my day, where I slept, what I’m doing now, something awesome (landed the cover of Southern bride magazine!)
reflect: best bit of 2013 (waking up everyday), me (painting this), celebrate
And here is the month of January, February, March, April, May, June, July, August, September, October, and November!
