We had quite the busy (last) weekend with celebrating Record Store Day. On Thursday, we had in-store performances from Goodnight Loving and Andy Dale Petty. The crowd was great, and really loved the show! This was Goodnight Loving’s second show in Huntsville, and it’s always great to see them. They’ll also be back for this year’s Bamalama Fest (CAN’T WAIT!)

IT’S THAT TIME AGAIN!
The second annual celebration of vinyl with Record Store Day! Come join all of your friends at Vertical House for the festivities! We’re kicking off with an instore performance TONIGHT with Goodnight Loving and Andy Dale Petty starting at 9pm.
Saturday from 10 am to 6pm in conjunction with other stores internationally, Vertical House will open their doors to supporters of vinyl, cds, local music, and independent stores in hopes to keep such a great thing going! We are also hosting our first ever Wax Museum: A Record and CD Collector’s Show. There will be tables and tables of collector’s items. We’ve gotten in a ton of great preloved albums as well as new releases…and don’t forget the special releases that are coming out just in time for Record Store Day!
On Sunday, the fun continues with an instore performance with Nobunny and Rock N Roll Adventure Kids starting at 9pm…so much fun!
You can read an article that ran in the GO! magazine here!

Jennifer and Kelly got hitched the same day/evening as Crash Boom Bang Theatre’s late night performance of Spaghettification. Needless to say, I was exhausted by the end of March 14th. Jennifer and Kelly got married at the Lake Guntersville Resort State Park in Guntersville, Alabama. What a gorgeous location! Apparently the Lodge was remodeled recently, and they did a fantastic job! The morning was rainy, but made for beautiful fog patches that created such serenity. Jennifer and Kelly’s families did such a wonderful job helping them put everything together. I can’t thank them enough for the lovely opportunity to capture their day. I hope their days together will always be as happy and memorable as their wedding day!

Rob and Miranda will be tying the knot in September at the Botanical Gardens. They are such a fun loving couple who brought a lot of great energy to the photo shoot. They had a brilliant idea of bringing a rope to literally “tie the knot” and I think it made for some wonderful photos! Thanks to Rob and Miranda for being their cute, happy selves and I can’t wait for Miranda’s bridal session in June, and then the Big Day in September!

I was so excited to get the opportunity to photograph a mom-to-be as gorgeous as Casey. She and I have been friends for a few years now. I remember meeting her during rehearsals for the first Crash Boom Bang show I was in. She and her husband, Tom, had just gotten back from their honeymoon. Casey is such a free-loving spirit and it’s always a pleasure to be around her. She’s also very talented and sings with her brother, Matt Bakula, in the Counterclock Wise…one of my personal favorites! She also introduced me to the wonders of yoga and is seriously the greatest teacher! She has her own Yoga studio in South Huntsville. Casey and Tom are expecting their first child (a boy!) on April 20th, 2009…that’s what? 5 days!
Pregnant?! What?!

I’m finished yay! After sorting and processing through some 3,500 images, I’m finished! I spent the past few days uploading ‘the chosen ones’ to flickr. I have decided instead of making every image from every event visible, I’m only choosing 5 or 10 images from each to make public, and the rest are left private. I’ve sent each party a link and guest pass to view their set…so they can see every image. I’ve gotten great feedback from everyone, and all seem very happy! Which makes me happy!
I also spoke with my Broker (Angela) about our situation out here on site. Well, she actually brought it up. Andy will be taking over the company’s website, so we had to stop by Angela’s office to discuss the transition and such. While Andy was looking through emails, she turned to me and began apologizing for things not going according to plan and the slow start, etc. Apparently she is in the exact same boat as me: FED UP with the lack of respect, the direction the builder is taking the communities, as well as general bad business moves. I told her how right now I do have the time to sit on site, but that I was beginning to see my days get booked with record store events, weddings and other photography sessions…and that if I had to choose, well the choice is pretty obvious. She completely understood and said “give me two months” which is the EXACT time frame I was giving myself and this on-site sitting. So, I’m glad all of that went smooth and that she completely understands (and shares) my frustrations. I’m also glad to know that if this completely falls through, that I’ll still be able to hang my Realtor’s license with Angela (since it’s the builder we have a problem with) and we’ll go about how we did before this opportunity came along. I’m glad to have my Broker as such a good friend because I really love her and her family…and I have since the good ole’ days of Cafe Baba. So by June these condos will be flying off the ground and the business will be booming, or I’m walking and focusing on the many other doorways that have opened for me. It’s win win.

On Saturday, April 4th, there was a Purgatory Lounge show. While we only had 7 singers, there were several other theatrical acts that were performed. Overall, the show was a lot of fun! I sang an original song and my death came from being smoked out of my bunker with mustard gas…tin foil hat and all!
