Halloween 2007 15.10.

FINALLY! The time is drawing near. I think this will be my favorite Crash Boom Bang production thus far. Maybe though…cause it’s gotta beat A Few Good Minutes and The Bhagavad Meatloaf. It was super fun making this movie, and apparently there’s going to be a blooper reel shown before or after the actual film. THAT should be entertaining.

Highlights
singing The Little Mermaid with Sara before she gets mauled
every bit of the dance scene
the trips and falls…all for the love of the movie
casey’s character and her whip
the b’ball game
the do-wop gang
PANTY RAID!
my character interacting with Lynsie’s and Sara’s “bitch” characters
Ben Ryne

all in all, I can’t wait for the performance weekend.

This show is not nearly as offensive as the last Crash Boom Bang show, so I’m hoping people will give CBB another shot…especially if it was their first show. In fact, this show is VERY tame. Matt wanted it to be an all ages show since it is Halloween time and kids love Halloween!

Roadtrip with Radiohead 11.10.

I wish I knew how many people played In Rainbows as their soundtrack yesterday. I know I did. Since Andy got a new job he had a couple of days off. We took full advantage. Road travels, antique stores, and Radiohead equal to pure bliss.

Southern Accents in Cullman was like stepping (swimming) into Ariel’s secret Grotto. They have anything and everything. It was heaven on earth for me.

I wonder if their businesses live up to their names.

DWP, crazy skele-lady, noodlehead 11.10.

Andy and I finished up another project with the Dead Workers Party. The mini-movie is entitled Booty Call of Cuthulu and it’s hilarious. It’ll be shown before Crash Boom Bang Theatre’s Halloween production…which still lacks an actual name.

Eric has this awesome picture that when you look at it face on, it looks like a pretty lady. Turn it slightly, and the skeleton can be seen. Apparently, there are many different ones that have children, men, and women that turn into werewolves, zombies, etc. Pretty neat.

Maple is cute.

New Store 11.10.

Last week Andy and I got the chance to expand our record store. We were wanting the space next to us, but we couldn’t get it because of fire codes and the (huge) air conditioner. Unfortunately, Matt Todd had to move out of his 4Motion skateboard shop. We got the heads up that his space was coming available and we would have first dibs since there was no way to grow where we were. It was a bittersweet move, but we did it. Now we have twice as much space, a loft, and we’re right in front of the Monkey entrance. So that means Vertical House has moved three times in the past year…haha!

OLD SPACE BEFORE – all smushed and crammed

NEW SPACE BEFORE – all open and roomy

NEW SPACE DURING – still needs a little work

Come visit us!

weekend dilly dallies 02.10.

This is the cat I mentioned in my last post. I’ve dubbed him Tom Cat.

Saturday we performed Year of the Gun in Birmingham at Cave 9. We left Huntsville around 3 and arrived at Cave 9 in time to run through the show and brush up on everything. After the practice we went to Mellow Mushroom to eat (and drink) dinner. Back at Cave 9, the show went perfectly. There was a great crowd and everyone seemed really into it. There was a party afterwards, but I had to be up bright and early to show houses, so Andy and I had to pass. We didn’t even leave Birmingham ’til 1 am, so I couldn’t even imagine what time we would have left had we stayed.

*the last picture is actually in hsv.

cats cats cats cats 01.10.

There has been a cat hanging around our porch for the past few days. I’m feeding him, so I’m sure he’ll be around for a bit. I took some photos so I can make a ‘found’ poster to see if it’s some body’s lost kitty. I kinda think it might be because he tries so hard to get inside of our house. In fact, last night, around 4am or so I heard a strange noise downstairs. At the top of the steps, I heard Maple hissing. I reassured her it was only Sadie as I picked up the cat she was hissing at. It wasn’t Sadie. It was our new friend. Somehow…magically, I guess…he opened our locked front door. Sadie was hiding under the couch. I think now what I heard was her getting upset at this new visitor.

I would love to give this cat a home if no one responds to the posters, but first my resident cats have to agree. It took Sadie a week or so to accept Maple, but Maple was so tiny and weak that it was probably easier for Sadie to still feel in charge.

I’m just glad there was no blood or fur shed last night. The whole incident led to a really bizarre dream. When I finally fell asleep again, I started hearing a bunch of cries from a cat. I went downstairs, and there were 30+ cats just wondering around. Every time I tried to put one out, three more would come in from somewhere. I couldn’t locate where they were coming from, but they were everywhere. There were two tiny tiny kittens that I set on the couch. Sadie and Maple were nowhere to be found, but I could hear them yelling at all these new intruders. Eventually, I grabbed a staple gun and started stapling the drywall like crazy (???) thinking it would help keep all these cats out. It didn’t work. I finally was taken out of this kitty craze by Andy’s ‘wake up’ phone call. Thank goodness!

I awoke with that horrible stressful feeling. It took about 15 minutes to shake it off.

Then, I get to work and find the best news! Radiohead’s In Rainbows is being released on October 10th, not next March. I pre-ordered the Discbox…and although I’ll have to wait ’til December to get it (Merry Christmas to meeeeee!) at least I’ll be able to hear it in a matter of days. What a great way to begin the month.
