On October 30th, King Kahn and BBQ Show, Thomas Function, and Rise Up Howling Werewolf played at The Flying Monkey. There were lots of folks and lots of great costumes.

Flip a switch, and the lights (finally) come on. 29.10.

The Crash Boom Bang film/performances this weekend were great! The live action and the orchestra really made for a show. I heard a lot of great comments about the little bus ride the audience got at the end. In the midst of the performances, Andy and I ‘moved in’ to our house. Our electricity was completed (YAY…20th Century once again!) and now we are able to move furniture in and start the fun times of unpacking. However, we have to take a break tonight and tomorrow night. Tonight, The Lightbulbs have a show in Florence with the Pine Hill Haints. Tomorrow night there’s a Thomas Function, Rise Up Howling Werewolf, and The King Kahn and BBQ Show show…and if you dress up in a costume, it’s $2 off admission. It’ll be awesome.

Onto the visuals.

bedroom

Pardon our mess throughout these pictures. We still have finishing touches left in all of the rooms, but I was so excited to see our house furnished that I didn’t bother that they aren’t ‘picture perfect.’ Also, I still haven’t been able to locate the box with all of my curtains. I’m starting to get aggrivated because I’m tired of the sheets hanging in the windows!

This is a closet that is nestled under the stairs. It’s no more than 5′ tall, so I’m thinking I’m going to make it into a mini-walk-in closet. There is access to it from the bedroom and the foyer. There are no closets whatsoever in this house, and my wardrobes can’t fit anymore. Slap a new coat of paint on, hang a rod, and hopefully my problem can be solved.

dining room…currently an offce

kitchen

Anyone know how to clean rust stains off of a porcelain sink?

still to do…downstairs
put down thresholds between rooms
finish trim in kitchen
caulk all trim
prime some trim
paint all trim
paint french doors & all interior doors
paint touch-ups on walls in every room
finish beaded board in bathroom
prime & paint beaded board
order & hang wallpaper in bathroom
change out a few of the rosettes
add transom window to area above bathroom door
scrape off paint on front door
add new glass in front door
new flooring for foyer
address fireplaces
clean windows
get screens for windows
clean sink
get dishwasher
get bathtub & sink for bathroom
get washer/dryer
install toilet, sink, tub, and w/d
sand paint off trunk (to use as bedding storage)
tin ceilings in dining room

AND THEN start getting together quotes for upstairs and the attic work.

TGIF! 26.10.

Wednesday night some of the cast in An Evening With the Eternally Nocturne finally got to preview the film with the live orchestra. Oh man…it’s awesome. The film is great on it’s own, but with the live music, it can’t be beat.

This whole week has been so dreary. Last night we went to Lowe’s to get a kerosene heater. I called someone about coming to look at our fireplaces and installing a vent-less gas log system, but they are booked for the next three weeks. At least I got our name in line though. It’s typical of Huntsville to only have two or three days of actual (beautiful) fall weather then turn into this grey, chilly preview of winter.

Sunday & Seed Thieving 22.10.

Yesterday was a busy day.

Started the beautiful day of by walking to star market to get some groceries. The new section looks so nice! I can’t wait for the entire remodel to be done.

Unpacked more kitchen items from the garage. The black cart fits in perfectly! Unfortunately, I think I remember our coffee pot breaking during packing up our old house. Our new tea kettle matches the plates nicely.

We let Sadie and Maple explore the awesome that is the front porch. They actually hung out with Tom Cat without any cat fights. Maple hissed at him every now and then, but nothing too threatening.

After finding those blue chairs, I didn’t see much use for our mini green couch and chair in our house. We took them up to the record store to make a comfy seating area. In exchange, we brought home our dining room table which was previously used as a counter in our old store. It’ll be nice to actually have a table to sit at to eat dinner. The knife (literally) in the road actually has the same design as one from a set of silverware we have. At the mill there were tons of chalk drawings. I took a pic of my favorite. I’m’ guessing it’s a frog.

For a while now Andy and I have wanted a willow tree. Since we had an $80 gift card to Lowe’s and his dad’s truck for the day, now was the time. The tree was only $15 and he’ll look lovely once his branches are a bit more ‘weepy.’ Maple says hello from the top of the stairs.

In our front yard there are two varieties of 4 o’clocks growing: pink and yellow. Sometimes they mix and there’s an orange bud poking out. However, I’ve been lusting after white 4 o’clocks to start off my Moon Garden…which will be nestled somewhere in our backyard. I’ve got a list of white fragrant flowers that bloom only when the sun goes down, and number one is 4 o’clocks. Until now, I had no luck finding them in white. One evening Andy and I were walking by Old Towne Coffee Shop and instantly I smelled their fragrance. Sure enough, sitting pretty, were bushels of them! Last night Andy and I returned to shake a few seeds so we can start our own. Is that illegal, you think?

New Blue Chairs 19.10.

I found these chairs at Value Village…and they fit perfectly with our sofa. The ultimate test, however, comes from the cats. Specifically, Maple. She fell in love at first sit/romp.

I even got a video because pictures don’t give the Spaz justice. She was obsessed before I could even put the cushion on the chair.

Last Night & The Day Before 19.10.

Last night did not really live up to it’s threat, but it made for a pretty sky and interesting colors.

_________________________________________

The day before yesterday I spent the day reading This Old House while Maple napped.

Andy and I went to Lowe’s to look for a new kitchen sink faucet. Of course, the one we fell in love with was on sale ($18.50) and the couple standing next to us were holding the last three faucets. Why they needed three, no idea, but it was a bit frustrating…at first. Andy went in search for an associate so we could purchase the display while I stood guard. Timothy, the sales associate that helped us, marked it down to $1. ONE DOLLAR for a brand spankin’ new faucet (shown in the second picture directly above). It matches perfectly.
