So this past weekend Crash Boom Bang Theatre opened Spaghettification and all three shows were fabulous! Opening night (Friday) had a fantastic audience that seemed to really love the show…we had wonderful feedback! Saturday night was a great performance, but the audience seemed kinda tired (I guess that’s what we get for having a 10pm showing), but they weren’t completely dead. Sunday night (early, 7pm show) was awesome! A lot of parents came to this show, and they were just as good as Friday night’s audience. The performance itself was dead-on and it was great hearing and playing off all of the laughter!
Tomorrow night and Saturday night we have the show at 9pm. I’m glad we are closing with a Saturday night show…high energy and going out with a bang! Plus, Saturday is the dodge ball tournament at the mill and I’m hoping Sara’s idea of a BBQ will pan out, cause that’ll just add a lot of fun.
During the first weekend we only took a few photos, but I’m hoping to get a good head shot of everyone in character (with makeup, hair, costume, etc) as well as more stage shots so Andy and I can really start putting the Crash Boom Bang Theatre website together.
The crew in the mess hall
Ed (Ben Ryhne) and Judith (me) try to meditate their anxiety away
Ed and Judith discuss the situation with Adidas Jansport (Chris Short)
Ed, Judith, and Adidas try to cheer Chuck (Conrad) up
Curtain call!
*Note: this is definitely not the entire show. There are many more scenes, but I don’t want to give too much away with photographs…the rest will come after Saturday night!

Last night we also began filming! This script is just too good not to turn it into a movie. Plus, we’ve already thought of tons of ideas to add to the story line to hopefully produce an awesome movie. Cory took some great infrared shots during the filming:
(it looks like I have no pants on!)
So yeah, if you can make it this weekend, I encourage you to do so. We’ve gotten a lot of great feedback about this show. Plus, I think just about everyone in the cast is totally in love with the script, so we’ve been giving it our all…and $7 is cheap for good entertainment!

Holy crap!!! Talk about timing. I emailed Holly, of decor8, a couple of shots of our house and we are now her 6th feature on How Much For This Room?. I’m beyond ecstatic! I have been following decor8 for some time now…and it’s been a great source of inspiration for me.

It’s so easy to clean when the windows are open, a breeze is flowing, music is playing, and sun is shining. We cleaned the entire downstairs, top to bottom. I’m also noting that we now only clean with white distilled vinegar (sometimes with baking soda)…so cheap, and does a much better job than commercial cleaners that are filled with yucky toxins. With a clean house came a photo shoot. I plan on emailing Holly at decor8 a photo of our living room and/or kitchen in hopes of getting a spot in her weekly “how much for this room” series. We’ll see! Also, I need to update our house site. We were talking about our restoration at Miss Mary Bobo’s and we gave the URL to a few people that were interested. So this also got me excited for the photo shoot with our house. But the main reason, was so Aunt Katie and Uncle Joe could come over and see how far we’ve come along. Last time they were here we had just gotten drywall!

Care to help me decide on a photo to send her? I’m torn! She only wants one photo initially, and if she’s interested, I’ll be able to submit additional angles and such. You can see more photos as well as a number of black and white shots here.

On Monday, Andy and I went to Lynchburg, Tennessee with his parents and aunt and uncle (who are visiting from Tampa, Florida). A couple of months ago they had made reservations to Miss Mary Bobo’s Boarding House for all of us to enjoy a wonderful ‘supper’ of the best home style, country cooking. We left our house around 9:15 and arrived in Lynchburg’s town square around 10. We walked around for a bit, since we didn’t have to sign in with Miss Mary Bobo’s until at least 10:45.
Once we did check in, several others started pouring through the doors, including an entire tour bus full of people from up North…65 people total. At 11am they rang the supper bells, and a hostess escorted smaller groups (of about 8 to 12 people) into assigned dining rooms. This place was a historical haven for me! They underwent a renovation back in 2006, and they did a beautiful job with all of the historic details.
While our table of 11 passed around the delicious bowls of food, we learned the history of Miss Mary Bobo’s. Miss Mary Bobo’s Boarding House began in 1908 when the young spinster assumed ownership of the historic Salmon Hotel. It used to be a traveler’s hotel and was built over a flowing spring. Miss Bobo died in 1983, just five weeks short of her 102nd birthday. She remained sharp-witted and involved in the Boarding House all her life. Lunch included generous helpings of friend chicken and pork tenderloin, six vegetables and side dishes (the fried okra and broccoli/cheese casserole were my favorites), hot cornbread, freshly brewed ice tea, homemade dessert (fudge pie!), and a hot cup of coffee. There is always at least one item on the menu that contains the local hometown “product” (Ole Number 7) in it…this time it was delicious candied apples!

the dining room we ate in (and my birthday fudge pie…it was scrumptious!)

back dining hall (there were also 3 upstairs and 2 in the basement)…I LOVE the wallpaper in this room
After “supper” we headed towards the Jack Daniel’s Distillery for the tour. It was a nice, relaxing way to walk off the delicious food. It’s also interesting to know that every drop of Jack Daniel’s is made less than an hour away from where we live…in a dry county, but that’s probably for the best for Lynchburg hah! I’m definitely not a whiskey person, but it was a really interesting tour!
Jack and I have the same basic measurements…both 5’2″ and 120lbs!
The small white building is the only original building of the distillery. It was originally the office, and was restored to look exactly as it was back in Jack’s days (the 1800s). Apparently he bought the distillery when he was only 13 years old!
The black stuff seen on all of the trees and buildings is a natural occurring mold that grows because of all of the alcohol vapors in the air. This growth was/is useful for cracking down on illegal distilleries.

I love this weather! This weekend we’ve slept with the windows open. It’s nice to fall asleep feeling the breeze wisp through the house. And awake to chirping birds and streaks of morning sun. I’m totally a morning person as the weather gets warmer.
Saturday night we had a BBQ! It was a lot of fun, with great company. My friend, Ashley (ironically), and I share the same birthday (today!) as well as a growing list of other coincidences. So I guess it was a B’day BBQ. I think this should become (at least) a bimonthly thing for the summers. It’s always great to cook with people and potlucks are fun ways to learn new recipes and such. Not to mention memorable times with friends!

can you tell I like the “aftermath” scenarios?

I’m so ready to plant! I found out our heirloom seed order will be here in a week or so. I’ve been debating if I want to do raised beds for these strands, or put them straight into the ground. Apparently our yard once housed one of the prettiest gardens in Huntsville…back in the 70s, when Andy’s dad bought it. So, I’m betting on good soil. So as of now, I’m leaning to straight in the ground, mulch, soaker hose. And grow!
Today I noticed some of last year’s plantings are coming back already.

strawberries
st. john’s wort & cat mint
curled parsley & hopefully bleeding hearts

day lilies are getting bigger…and seems like more than last year
I let Sadie and Maple come outside while I was taking pictures, and Porch Kitty was in the neighbor’s yard! She’s so pretty in the late afternoon sun. All three cats actually got pretty close to one another without much commotion. I’m secretly hoping Sadie and P. Kiddy are actually sisters.

maple loves to claw this particular wood beam

sadie pulled a lewter’s kitty move
These daffodils are always the first to bloom in our yard. For my birthday, I got a Pineapple Plant! How exciting! I’ve been reading about pineapples, and they are very interesting…basically, just root the cap of a pineapple, and voila! This guy has got a while to go before the fruit will be ripe, but it’ll be a fun plant for the summer.

how meowch is that kitty in the window?
willow tree leaves!
the yellow jasmine has come out of hibernation and is beginning to climb again

While filming the accredited show ‘Man Alive’, the crew aboard Ms. Jaxxon find themselves lost in space. They’ve lost communication with the Network and are now orbiting the ergo sphere of a black hole. With the Captain’s love for his ship growing stronger everyday, can the crew convince him not to manually override Ms. Jaxxon and fly into the black hole to become one with her? Will the crew ever be saved? What happened to planet Earth? And what would you do if you were the only humans left in the galaxy?
If I could convince you to come to one Crash Boom Bang show, it would be this one. The show was written by Robert Parker, who I think is our best writer. He uses very intelligent humor, no dick, sex or fart jokes (although they’ve had their place in previous shows). The cast is by far one of my favorites, because not only are we all great friends (no drama yay!), but because everyone gives it their all and always puts on a great show. For real, the plays Robert writes are my favorite shows, to date…out of all the theatre I’ve done throughout my life. The lines, the characters, the attention to detail, the storyline, the humor…all of it…Robert just knows how to write a play.
