October, as of late 21.10.

Yesterday we went to Bennett Nurseries in search for a new plant for our anniversary* and found blueberries and raspberries! Andy’s been wanting to add more fruit to our garden for a while, but since the time to plant is in fall, Bennett finally got some in stock. We still need to go back and get a hydrangea. Every year we hope to plant a hydrangea bush so eventually, it will make a nice border around our metal fence. Anyway, Bennett had some great fall plants that made for pretty pictures.

*I must have the sappiest husband ever, but I love it! He doesn’t just recognize May 20th…our “real” anniversary, but on the 20th of every month he wakes me up with “Happy Anniversary!” and a great big ole’ kiss. Honestly, I never thought it was possible to be this much in love.

Yesterday was also Andy’s mom’s birthday…and this past Sunday (October 18th) was my mom’s birthday! She turned 50! We celebrated accordingly.

Andy's Parents!

Mom and Dad

My parents…we met them for pizza and beer at the new Mellow Mushroom.

Mellow Mushroom Kiss?

Monday Funday also happened this week, however, at a different location…but still super fun! Somehow, we got on the subject of weird faces. Nichole showed us the face her and her dad make to each other. Along with the fish face, they also make a bird face! Her cute little mouth looks like a beak!

Nico's Bird Face I have no explanation...

…and that is my weird face. Someone once said it looked like Michael Jackson’s nose. Is it too soon for jokes?

House in Fall

Of course, a few shots around the house. Ok, mainly just of the kitties. I figured it’s been long enough.

Sadie in the Dryer

Sadie loves the dryer, especially making muffins in the warm clothes. She spent the entire day in there (door open).

Maple in the Window

Can you see Maple’s tiny head peeking out the window? This is her favorite spot come fall.

Fall Decor 16.10.

Fall doesn’t last long here in Alabama, and it’s already getting pretty nippy. We’ve put out some of our fall decor, but you know…I don’t have much. This Monday and Tuesday (our off days) I plan on gathering some sticks and stuff for some vases around the house…and hopefully it will look good. I’m not the kind that can go out and drop hundreds on cutesy things at Target (ok ok, I COULD…but I don’t). Here’s our philosophy: we wait for the sales. Last Christmas, we waited until shit was 75% off, and then stocked up on a lot of decor. We left them all in the packages, and boxed them up with what little xmas stuff we already had. This year, it will be like Christmas came early with all the “new” stuff! So, that’s my plan for fall decor. I never cared about decorating until we moved into this house. Now I’m probably driving Andy slightly crazy oooing and aaahing over the smallest things.

The table cloth came from Andy’s granny and I am absolutely in love with it. I know the colors aren’t very fall like, but I think it goes well with our dining room…which walls are VERY fall like haha. We got the baby pumpkins at an outdoor flea market. They were 5 for $1! How could I say no?!

The cook books that are in that last photo were only a dollar each at a thrift store. There are so many neat recipes in there! I’m hoping to make some candy on one of our days off! This week is pretty booked with photo shoots, so maybe next week…but we’ll see, maybe we can squeeze it in!

Happy fall ya’ll!

Purgatory Lounge 16.10.

This past weekend was full of waiting…inside Purgatory Lounge. We did a show on the 11th and 12th. Matt asked Robert and I to sing our duet both nights, so that was exciting! Robert had never sang before, but I knew he would match Lee Hazelwood the best, so I was very thankful he agreed to sing along with me! We did Nancy (Sinatra) and Lee’s Ladybird. I absolutely ADORE that song.

Ganglians and Wavves at the Bottletree 16.10.

Last Tuesday (?) we took a mini road trip with a few friends to Birmingham to see Ganglians and Wavves at Bottletree. The show ended up being free cause Andrew Bird was also in town, and apaprently everyone was there. Bottletree wasn’t very crowded, but there were a few heckling douches in the audience. Oh well, what can ya do? It was nice to see Charlie…my favorite Birminghamite! She’s always fun 🙂

I only took a few shots with my point and shoot, which is a little better than a piece of shit.

Apparently, this guy is on several people’s shit list. The Black Lips almost got into a fight with him, according to a few ridiculous articles I’ve been reading. Band fights are so silly…and pretty humorous. OMG MY BAND IS SO MUCH BETTER THAN YOU SO EFF OFF! lol lol lol. Especially when a lot of the bands are influenced by the same sort of music.

After the show we went to Al’s. Justin drove us down there, but was in no condition to drive home, so I got behind the wheel. About 45 minutes from Huntsville, my eyelids were slamming shut, so Andy took over (yay!). We got home around 4am and crashed hard.

Before/After and a Few Randoms 02.10.

Our Block Shadows

Andy and I have been walking in the evenings when ever we can (ie when we aren’t at the store). Sometimes it’s to the store to get dinner, other times it’s just to enjoy each others company and the fall season.

The Dreaded Firefly The Dreaded Firefly

On Monday night Andy and I continued our music-filled weekend by going to listen to Matt play as the Dreaded Firefly. It was a nice, relaxing, evening at the VooDoo Lounge, compared to the usual cramped-I-can-barely-get-to-the-back-bathrooms-to-pee nights.

Rainbow Light

Rainbow Light

I have a pair of those cool glasses that bends light. I love using wacky glasses as filters 🙂

Potting Bench

Andy found that potting bench on the side of the street one morning! He knew I had been on the lookout for one, and voila! One appears! I love it!

Pineapple Plant's Flower

This little zinnia (I think) popped up in our pineapple plant!

Mystery Plant

In the photo of the potting bench, you can see our little greenhouse. We started a round of seeds in here recently, and one just took off! Unfortunately, I can’t read what I labeled them, so this is our growing Mystery Plant! He had to be transferred from a seedling cup to his very own pot! Hopefully I’ll know what he is soon, unless any of you can provide insight 🙂

I recently submitted some before/after shots of our house to a website I’m hoping will feature us. I realized I don’t think I ever put any before and after shots right next to each other on here.

GONER FEST 6 28.09.

Goner Fest 6 was an amazing, interesting, terrifying, fun, annoying, exhausting, and exciting trip I will never forget.

Apparently, just about everyone woke up the morning of, or by the end of the first day felt sick. It hit me like a tidal wave on the drive up. Andy wasn’t feeling well since the night before we left. The running joke of the weekend was Huntsville has swine flu in Memphis. But it didn’t really get in the way of fun until one night (horrifying details below) so overall it was a blast! I guess the best way to tackle this is day by day, with pictures! I’ll go ahead and say that I didn’t get photos of every band and I’ll put the ones I did get behind a cut.

Thursday September 24th

Justin came by around noon to pick us up and we headed up to Memphis via Hwy 72 Alternate. It was a boring drive, but with good company (Justin, Sammy, Josh, Andy and me). When we got to Memphis we met up with Nichole, Travis, David, and Ellis at Payne’s BBQ and then we all headed up to Goner Records for the first show. It was packed so I didn’t get any photos during the show. In fact, a lot of people were outside cause it was a beautiful day and there was way more room.

Goner Fest 6 Goner Fest 6

In between shows there was a few hours of down time in which we all just hung out at the hotel and relaxed before heading up to the Hi Tone.

GONERFEST and a lost camera cord 23.09.

This happens to us every time we get ready to go out of town. We lose a camera cord…and this time we’ve ‘misplaced’ the one to our point and shoot, which has over 800 photos hanging out. Normally, this would be something I would overlook, but I know I’ll take a TON of photos at Gonerfest (TOMORROW YAY!) and I’d rather not have over 1600 or more photos to go through when I get back in town. I would have loved to spend today uploading the photos and making proper LJ entries. I mean, I still have photos from Andy’s birthday on there…which was September 7th haha. So yeah, cross your fingers that I find the cord tonight please.

GONERFEST! TOMORROW! CAN’T WAIT! SO STOKED! Seriously…this will be 3 days of nonsense with our best friends and (some of) our favorite bands. I’ve never been to Memphis, Tennessee, so that will be exciting too! I love new places! And BBQ=YUM! Oh, and on the way home I think we are all going to try to stop at Graceland Too. This is going to be the best business expense ever!

Well, time to search some more for that cord while we are here at the record store…otherwise, I’m hoping we’ll just stumble across it while packing tonight at home. Here’s hoping!
