Purgatory Lounge 16.10.

This past weekend was full of waiting…inside Purgatory Lounge. We did a show on the 11th and 12th. Matt asked Robert and I to sing our duet both nights, so that was exciting! Robert had never sang before, but I knew he would match Lee Hazelwood the best, so I was very thankful he agreed to sing along with me! We did Nancy (Sinatra) and Lee’s Ladybird. I absolutely ADORE that song.

The first night, Robert’s “death” was a mining accident, and I threw myself into the mine shaft after hearing of his death.

Lynsie wrote an original song about a parasite…it was SUCH a cute song! She did an awesome job!

Joey showed up as Satan and covered Eartha Kitt’s “Somebody Bad Stole De Wedding Bell” and it was SO funny!

The next night was…interesting. I did a small skit with Corry for a song Jon wrote. But when Robert and I sang again, I totally cracked the whole first part and again towards the end. It was just like high school all over again. But this time, I was lucky to be able to hide behind the fact my character was on coke*…so I just kinda flailed about stage and we got through it ok. It was a lot more FUN then the night before, but the song sounded better on Saturday night.

Our death on Sunday was so different. Matt called me earlier that day saying there was another gal who was going to have a wedding dress, and asked if I could come up with something else. We had no idea what to do, until I saw Robert in his red and black fancy suit. He looked like he walked right out of Twin Peaks, so we went with it. Apparently, we died after a coke induced hike had us looking for the Black Lodge…but we found Bob first. And instead of dying in the hands of Bob (shudder) we decided to throw ourselves off a cliff. lol.

*note: I’ve never actually done cocaine before, so I’m not really sure how I would act. But I guessed it would make me somewhat hyper and I danced all around stage during the parts Robert sang. That probably had something to do with why I was cracking all of my notes haha. I’m uploading the video to vimeo, so I might share it in a bit.

Beth was poisoned at a Mardi Gras ball, and I forgot what she sang :/

Joey came back as the Devil!

Corry played the Mad Scientist and I played his wife during the skit while Jon sang. It was funny.

…our camera died after this shot was taken, so I didn’t get the rest of Sunday’s performers.
