So, our household might be one kitten stronger after Sunday. Donald and some of the other guys that work at the mill have started renovating another part of the building and they found two kittens (tiny, tiny kittens) under some wood. They saw the mom kitty run off when they started working, but no ones knows if she ever came back. Several of us thought the best idea was to leave the two kittens (who we put in a box with blankets and such to keep warm) over night to see if the mom would come back. It got into the 20s last night, so I didn’t sleep well thinking of the darling kittens. Alice (Donald’s wife) went up to the mill early this morning because she couldn’t sleep either. She called me when she got there and said there was only one kitten left and she wasn’t sure what to do. She thought it would be best to take it in, get it warm, and feed it…she has nursed a lifeless kitten back to health before, so she knows what she is doing. I told her we would be able to take it, but the only problem is I have a wedding to shoot in Birmingham this Saturday that will keep us there overnight. She said she would be able to take care of it until then, if we wanted. So, I think that’s the plan. Unless Alice and Donald fall in love with it, then they are more than welcome to keep it.
While it’s SO sad thinking about what could have happened to that other kitten, I’d like to think the mom came and got it. I know it might not be the best idea to take the kitten that is left, but at the same time, it’s SO cold outside…and without food, I don’t know how long it would last.
So if anybody has any thoughts or insight, I’m all ears.

The other day we got snow! I know it looks pretty pathetic, because it kinda was. Gotta admit though, I was excited. However, the day didn’t start off that great. I had a photo shoot at 10am, but it was
so cold. I tried to call the clients to make sure they still wanted to do this, but they never answered. So, I met with them, and it was a disaster. Their kids had snotty, runny noses and were crying most of the time. I felt so bad for them. The session ended 15 minutes later. I got about 28 shots that I sent them, but we are definitely rescheduling…which will be great because the whole family can work the camera. The parents were both actors in LA, and their kids are total hams.
Luckily, the photo shoot we had that afternoon went MUCH better. The little girl was so cute and she loved having her picture taken. You can see their session here.
Stephanie and I are doing our first photo booth this Friday night at an art show at the mill. I’m really excited since this is an option we hope to add to our wedding packages. I ordered two remotes for my camera (one wireless, one corded) so I can’t wait to try them out. I’m hoping that with a room full of talented artists and their friends we can get some really great shots!

it’s beginning to look a lot like what?

Broccoli head is turning orange! I love this tree!

These snowflake decorations have been my favorite since I can remember decorating the tree. My parents gave them to me when I put up my first tree since I had no decorations and they knew I was so attached.

Andy found these Santas (there are two) inside of a box on the side of the road. I’m so glad he saved them cause they have now become my favorites and this is their first year with us!

Sadie just sits and stares at the tree. Several times she would let out a big sigh while looking at the tree with glassy eyes. It’s so cute.

Hopefully this will become a monthly thing, or at least happen any major holiday that requires food cause Friendsgiving was AWESOME! We had it this past Sunday and it was nice to try such tasty foods prepared by friends and to all gather together. I was too preoccupied by setting the table and finishing up food prep to take photos BEFORE we ate, but I got a few of some of the dishes after…and I really do have a thing for ‘after’ photos.

mac and cheese, sweet potato casserole, rolls, a general shot, and pumpkin mousse pies!
Not pictured, but devoured: green bean casserole, little smokies, stuffing, yeast rolls, mashed potatoes, and a pie.

Josh, probably sexting.

Happy David, eating a pumpkin mousse pie ^^

This past Friday and Saturday night Crash Boom Bang opened “The Moonlite Gallery” and we had quite the crowd on BOTH nights! Saturday night’s crowd was clapping after almost every scene and we all had to hold for laugh lines throughout the night.
Honestly, I was pretty worried about the show. Crash Boom Bang doesn’t usually get our shit together until last minute, but holy cow it was literally LAST MINUTE with this show. There were a couple of rehearsals that had me worried but everything came together with only a few dropped lines the first night.
Everyone created their own character and gave them to Beth and Joey, who wrote everyone into the play. It was pretty hectic and confusing at first. Each character became a painting that eventually came to life in the show…chaos ensued…and the show ended with a HUGE food fight. We never rehearsed the food fight, so it was so hard not to just completely crack up during that part. There was cupcake frosting everywhere by the end of it.
My character was Petunia Nettlewood, of Nettlewood Mountain Bed and Breakfast. She came to me in a dream. The entire character! It was kinda crazy. It was the night before our characters were due and I had nothing. That night, I had the strangest dream about staying in a B&B run by a cooky gal named Petunia Nettlewood…and thus, she was born! Once the script was written, I got to play around with the character, and she became a psychopath that killed her parents. She talked with a lisp and made really crazy faces. It was certainly a fun character to play. I’d like to try to work on small sketches based on her cause I feel we could do a lot with that. Sara and I were coming up with some pretty funny scenarios…granted, it probably isn’t that funny unless you saw how crazy Petunia was in the show. One of my favorite ideas Sara came up with is ‘Petunia Goes Clubbing’ cause I could only imagine what funny shit we could come up with.
Anyway, onward to the photos! I’m putting most of them behind a cut since theatre photos aren’t up everyone’s alley and don’t really make sense haha.
Matt created Muffin’s tank from cardboard and a walker…who needs a budget?! And the second image is a work in progress.

Matt helping Max get into his ‘cubist’ costume. Matt also constructed those awesome wings for Yuri, but I had to wear them for him to make finishing touches.

Matt drew the Dalis and I painted them. And Robert Parker painted the ‘Del Peruga’ entitled ‘Lost Supper’.

Me as Petunia Nettlewood and Sasha as Coffee Girl arguing about how we got out of the painting
when art comes alive!

This morning the yard sale gods were looking down on me…that or the coincidence god was. The other day Andy and I saw a ceramic garlic container for $10 at Bed, Bath, and Beyond. It was cute, and we use garlic quite a bit, but we decided to look around some. Also, I’ve been wanting one of those three tiered wire basket for fruits and veggies.
So today I did a little meditating before we left for yard sales, and the FIRST one we go to: the EXACT garlic ceramic holder. The second yard sale: the first thing I see is a THREE TIERED WIRE BASKET! Andy just looked at me and we started laughing. It was awesome!

This sunset made everything tinted pink for about 15 minutes…it was absolutely gorgeous!

Andy made his first ever pecan pie! omg it was SO good! We found the pecan pie dish at last week’s yard sales and it was only a buck…and it’s one of those pie dishes with the recipe at the bottom. So he followed it, and the pie was perfect!

I love our backyard trees even more when the leaves start changing!

Stephanie and I have been just the right amount of busy. 2010 definitely looks like a busier year for us, as we are getting wedding inquires anywhere from New Orleans to Baltimore. I’m excited to see the business grow, but also glad we both maintain the thought of not wanting this to become overwhelming.
Today I found a 35mm Olympus OM10 camera with a 50mm (yesssss!) and a telephoto lens….all for $20! The camera and lenses are in fantastic shape…hardly a dust spec in sight. I’m so excited as the Olympus camera I first started out on is now out of commission. This model is the one prior to the kit I started on, but all of the components are practically identical. Andy also found me a super 8mm (working) camera and I am beyond ecstatic. This has been something I’ve wanted to incorporate into our business for a while, but never knew it would fall into place so soon. We still have to get film and make sure everything comes out ok…but once we figure that out, we will be adding it to our wedding packages. I’ve decided to really concentrate on film for a while. Between my dad and I, we have way more invested into film cameras, supplies and the like than I do in digital. He and I have been trying to set up a darkroom for a long time, and now seems more ideal than ever. We have all the chemicals, enlargers, paper, etc for a full fledged darkroom. I’m really crossing my fingers this part of White Rabbit Studios continues to really grow. I know there’s a market for something like this in Huntsville as I have yet to find a competitive wedding photographer that offers film with their packages. Hopefully this will be the niche we seize.
Anyway, I want to post some of the photos I’ve taken while on this WRS journey of selected recent clients we’ve had the pleasure of working with. Seriously, these people are so inspiring, and I love being able to capture these moments.

The stunning Jane and John bridal portraits…as well as their mountain top wedding.

The couple that makes growing with a partner effortless and exciting, Richard and Judy.

The sweet baby girl and her new life.

Last weekend Stephanie and I met Jane and John up on Monte Sano Mountain, at Burritt Museum. My first time up there was a couple of weeks earler when we shot their wedding, but since it was raining, we didn’t get to explore the place for any bridal portraits or anything…so we agreed to meet again. Which was last weekend. And holy crap that is my heaven on earth! Seriously, I was so in love with each of the houses and barns up there. Each house once belonged to a settler of the Tennessee Valley…they were spread across all of Madison County. Eventually, the city needed a place to put all of these old (1800s) houses, and Burritt Museum was formed.
The simplicity of these houses, a bedroom, a kitchen, and a breezeway between, kept me daydreaming of simple times. Well, I know they weren’t really simple times, but I fell in love with the minimalistic decor and the raw beauty of each of the houses. OK…I’ll let the pictures speak for themselves.

…and the two resident kitties, Laverne and Shirley!
