a new kitten? 10.12.

So, our household might be one kitten stronger after Sunday. Donald and some of the other guys that work at the mill have started renovating another part of the building and they found two kittens (tiny, tiny kittens) under some wood. They saw the mom kitty run off when they started working, but no ones knows if she ever came back. Several of us thought the best idea was to leave the two kittens (who we put in a box with blankets and such to keep warm) over night to see if the mom would come back. It got into the 20s last night, so I didn’t sleep well thinking of the darling kittens. Alice (Donald’s wife) went up to the mill early this morning because she couldn’t sleep either. She called me when she got there and said there was only one kitten left and she wasn’t sure what to do. She thought it would be best to take it in, get it warm, and feed it…she has nursed a lifeless kitten back to health before, so she knows what she is doing. I told her we would be able to take it, but the only problem is I have a wedding to shoot in Birmingham this Saturday that will keep us there overnight. She said she would be able to take care of it until then, if we wanted. So, I think that’s the plan. Unless Alice and Donald fall in love with it, then they are more than welcome to keep it.

While it’s SO sad thinking about what could have happened to that other kitten, I’d like to think the mom came and got it. I know it might not be the best idea to take the kitten that is left, but at the same time, it’s SO cold outside…and without food, I don’t know how long it would last.

So if anybody has any thoughts or insight, I’m all ears.
