Motivational Poster 17.07.

haha Cory made a few Motivational Posters from some of the images he took of Purgatory Lounge. I think these would make nice fliers in addition to the ones Matt makes. You can see more posters if you click on Cory’s name in the first sentence. I like the one he did with Casey’s photo a lot…

Bathroom Wallpaper 16.07.

Our bathroom wallpaper is almost completed! I’m so excited! It’s been sitting in it’s mailing envelope for a couple of months or longer by now, and I had almost forgotten how much I love the pattern.

I do have a question about arranging in the bathroom, if you’d be so kind as to offer your opinion

Today 15.07.

Yay! I updated our house’s website with some new photos that show more how we live, and less staged everything-in-its-right-place kinda thing.

We finally got a screen (door) for our back door. It’s nice on evening like this when I can leave the back door and the front windows open and feel the nice cross breeze. Especially in the summer. I love when summer nights drop into the upper 60s. Today I swapped out the books on the living room mantle to fit our cameras. I think having them out like this (with film readily tucked behind them) I’ll be more prone to take one (or all) oot and aboot. One day I shall hook my scanner to “digitize” all of my film shots. Especially the polariods…I had a polariod-a-day series going on for a few months, until I ran out of film.

Today we pickled more cucumbers, and still have several batches to do. Anybody care for some homemade pickles? If they taste good, of course. We also gathered enough okra to fry it mmm. I’m a huge fan of it, and this was my first time to cook it…Andy’s too! It.was.so.delicious. It puts me in the mood for fall…and Thanksgiving. But I’m not really ready for summer to be over! Tonight’s dinner was steak and fried okra. I had the salad (freshly grown from our yard) ready to go, but we realized we had nothing to top our salads with…so they’ll be had tomorrow.

These are “as-is” shots of the bedroom. No moving things out of the way, no straightening the covers…shit, no making the bed, genuinely lived-in photos. My new wardrobe is on the far right…the blonde colored wood. I love it so much, and I think it will help me stay organized and not get a million more pieces of clothes. Well, actually that is probably a lie. I’ll find room somehow.

The kitties enjoyed playing in the yard while we harvested veggies and picked weeds out of the raised beds. However, Maple ended up bringing us a bird. It was still alive, so I coaxed her to put it down. I picked her up and we left it alone. A while later, I went and checked on it, and it could hop and flutter off of the ground. He was a grown bird, and eventually made his way up the fence and into a tree, I presume. Hope he’ll be ok…

Purgatory Lounge – July12th 13.07.

For this show, having 3 cameras comes in handy. One Sony Cybershot took a video and the other was backstage with me, Olympus was in the booth on a tripod. I don’t know why we didn’t do this sooner…

Josh and I died on our wedding day. We were reaped.

For me there’s no tomorrow…

Scales & an in-store 11.07.

Andy and I saw (now dubbed) Scales in the back courtyard of the Mill. I looked over and saw something moving in the grass, then realized it was a turtle’s mouth chewing clovers! At first, he wasn’t shy at all. Stretching his neck every which way, but when I retrieved my camera, he tucked himself almost completely away.

Last night we had a show in our record store. It was The Slippery Slopes and Dan Satterfield’s Dick. For all of you Huntsvillians, it’s a chuckle because all of DSD’s songs are about weather. “Screaming at a Wall Cloud” is the title of one of them. It was pretty funny. For all of you non-locals, Dan Satterfield is a local meteorologist.

Antiquing 10.07.

I found one I found one I found one!!!

I had been looking for a wardrobe for over a year. Yesterday, I found it! Our house has no closets, but some space under the stairs we were trying to turn into a closet, but it failed. Miserably. Multiple times. But yesterday I found something that will make getting dressed and putting together outfits fun again! And not crouching over, shifting through clothes that were way too cramped, hitting my head on the light, and avoiding nails that have come through from the stairs. Maple is another huge fan and loves to explore inside whenever I open it.

Andy spotted the piece at an antique store in Madison. We also found dining room chairs! Now the dining room can live up to it’s name. The chairs match the 100+ year old table p e r f e c t l y. I’m glad things are starting to happen with our house again. Recently we: put on glass door knobs (before we had a hodge podge of knobs), got a screen door for the back door (NO MORE FLIES, which means NO MORE MAGGOTS YAY!), ordered a faucet and shower surround for the tub, and finished sanding a trunk we had painted (boo) that holds our records and serves as a living room table. I enjoy this roll we are on…

Antiquing should be a sport…
