This may be old to some, but it’s new to me! And it’s Mitch Hedberg…so I have to share.
Yesterday we went to pick up some records from a gentleman, Dan, that lives in the Russell Erskine Apartments. He gave us a wonderful tour of the building. It was built and opened as a hotel, but has since been turned into apartments. When Dan showed us the Ballroom, he told us that his prom was held in that room in 1941. At first I wasn’t going to bring in my camera (I didn’t want to be intrusive), but he encouraged me to go get it from the car to snap some photos. Funny thing about Dan, he’s very good friends with our twin house neighbor Vera. He got wide eyed and giddy when we told him we lived next door to her.
The world just keeps getting smaller.

On Wednesday Andy and I went to Southern Accents in Cullman in search for a sink. I’m ready for the bathroom to be finished! We did find a sink, the exact kind I was looking for. However, I’m not 100% happy with the knobs, so I’ll continue to search for replacements. But for now, it’s great! I haven’t taken a photo of it yet (didn’t even think about it while we were there…I got so caught up in the excitement haha). But, I do have photos of other things.

Crash Boom Bang Theatre is Doin’ It for (more) Skits and Giggles on Saturday, August 9th at 10:30pm in The Flying Monkey Arts Theatre for $7
Hey, remember Crash Boom Bang Theatre — the sexy black eye on the otherwise plain face of Huntsville theatre. If you have ever attended a CBB presentation, you know they are truly unforgettable. From dick jokes to deeper meaning, we’ve got you covered, and now we’re back with a hot vengeance, waiting in the wings to take you on a wild ride through the uncharted territory (in Huntsville, at least) of filmed SNL style theatre. Have you ever wanted to be a part of a live studio audience? Well now’s your chance! Crash Boom Bang has decided to take a pregnant hiatus from full-length plays and go back to our original skit format with a whole slew of new talent and crew…not to mention cameras! Three of them! You’re bound to be on TV soon. So come to our new theatre (upstairs in The Flying Monkey) when we tell you to! And your audience participation will be filmed! No kidding! So come get famous with us! Love, Crash Boom Bang.
*NOTE: This is a different show than the one last month, so come one, come all!
ohkimma tagged me, so here are 6 things that made me happy today:
1. My parents picked up some green peanuts from Garden Cove to boil (my dad is obsessed) and we took a handful so we can plant them! I’ve never even thought of growing peanuts, but hey…why not! I’m actually not a fan of nuts (aside from Andy’s lol lol lol) but I do enjoy peanuts.
2. The first corn of the season! I can’t wait to shuck it, butter it, and grill it…maybe with a juicy steak tomorrow night. mmmm.
3. Our very first batch of sun tea! We go through SO much Milo’s that it’s about time we started making it ourselves. Now just gotta get just the right amount of “sweet” to it to compare to Milo’s.
4. Sadie. She loves going outside in the backyard any chance she gets. We usually comply until she wanders past our fence and into the neighbor’s yard…then she gets “grounded” for a day. She’s getting a lot better with staying within our fence. I normally wouldn’t mind if she roamed around past our property, but we live on a busy street, and I hate to think about what could happen…
5. Romaine Lettuce seeds. I’ve been gathering seeds like a mad woman to prep for next year. I can’t wait to display them in jars on the kitchen shelves.
6. Silver Bowl Series: July 18th Harvest. I’m glad this project is coming together so quickly. Although the past few harvests have been very similar, it’ll be neat in five years (or so) to look back and see how much we’ve gathered along the way.
….and I’m gonna throw in one more
7. Our tub’s soon-to-be-hooked-up-and-working faucet. It took me a while to finally decide on one cause I really wanted the cross knobs. And when I came across the ebay listing that had this faucet, a shower, the shower surround, AND drain, I couldn’t pass it up. Now just gotta make up my mind on the bathroom arrangement so we can enjoy a soak in the tub together with a glass of wine…and Iron and Wine…and ahem 🙂
Ok…I’m not very good at tagging, cause I don’t want to put people on the spot, so I encourage EVERYONE to participate 🙂
