Frances & Josh Wedding 12.11.

Last Friday, the 7th, I shot a wedding with my great friend Stephanie. She asked me to help her out a while ago, so it was great knowing there would be two of us covering the wedding. I must admit that it was a huge relief…much more calm than at the weddings I’ve shot by myself. Funny thing was, I didn’t even know the bride’s name until the day of, and then I find out we went to Bob Jones High School together! She graduated in 2000 (and I in 2003) but we know several of the same people (when Madison was much smaller). Her wedding planner, Michelle, and I hadn’t seen each other in YEARS!

The wedding was at the Monte Sano lodge. It sprinkled on and off all day. Stephanie and I were worried we wouldn’t be able to take photos outside, but the rain cleared right as it was picture time! There was a blanket of fog covering the mountains while we were shooting the guys, but cleared by the time we brought Frances outside.

As the evening went and the temperature dropped outside, it just made it so much warmer and cozier inside. It was such a gorgeous wedding, and I’m so thankful to Stephanie for letting me help her!

Congratulations Frances & Josh

500 08.11.

I have reached 500 entries with this lj name!

My first journal (afwee) was started back when you had to be invited to use lj. And thanks to Stephanie, she invited me and several of our other friends (that, sadly, no longer use it) so we could stay in touch while they all went off to college. I was the young’un that was still in high school, but it was a great way for us all to stay connected.

I actually still have several other journals that are still activated, but I no longer write in them because I was in a completely different mindset when they were started than I am today.

I began theverticalbar shortly after meeting Andy. We were spending all of our time together and I wanted a place to document all of the fun we were (are) having. I’m so glad I did because there’s so much to look back on and I’m sure there will be so much for us in the future.

So, what’s your entry count?

Twitter 05.11.

Ok…as much as I don’t really “get” the Twitter obsession, I figure it is a(nother) way to reach out to more people. That important for a business, right? Plus, I thought I should snatch up the name verticalhouse while I still could.

So, if ya got one, wanna be friends?

Fall in Five Points 03.11.

Today we went on a 2+ hour walk around the neighborhood to capture the pretty colors before they fade away. It was such a nice outing and my body appreciated the extra stretch and relaxed exercise. We also piddled around in the yard and decided to try a “recycling” of vines that are randomly growing across our backyard. After Andy uprooted several plants, I placed them in hanging containers. I have no idea if this will work, but it’s worth a shot. The idea would (hopefully) be to have hanging baskets filled with flowing vines and hang them around the front porch. We’ll see what happens.

Halloween Extravaganza! 02.11.

WHATTA SHOW!!!

Crash Boom Bang’s So You Wanna Be a Slasher was quite the show. Halloween night we had over 80 people come through and last night around 50. The first weekend was about 40 combined, so it was exciting that so many people came out to support! It was really hard to promote the show to where people didn’t think we were running around with chainsaws trying to scare the crap out of people. To promote it so that it was a comedic performance with Haunted House elements…and blood.

I have never gotten so beat up from a show. I have bruises that wrap around each wrist from being tapped together so often as well as bruises and scrapes (including a SUPER sore one on my shoulder) along my right arm. I had to slam myself into a gate as if trying to escape while my arms were bound behind my back…and I always used my right arm. During one performance, my dress got caught underneath me and I fell to my knees on the concrete ground while S.D. Stubidge (Matt) was wrestling with me. Although I beat myself up a bit, I had to slap Matt in the show, and none of those were fake…and he claims I hit pretty hard. Sorry Matt! My body took a bit longer to wake up this morning, but a hot bath helped sooth the aches. All in all, it was totally worth it. It’s also amusing that I don’t have hair on my wrists from the tape being ripped off so many times.

After last night’s show, The Counterclock Wise ended the evening with a fun dance party in the red curtained room. We didn’t get home until 2am (3am before DST) and after scrubbing the dirty sludge that my legs gathered from running barefoot on the mill floors, I didn’t get to bed until an hour later.

It’s always such an odd feeling after a show and transitioning into the next. This time it’s happening pretty quick as we have a Skits and Giggles show already booked for the end of November. ONWARD!

Andy walked through the Slasher Seminar to snap some photos of the actual live performances. He also walked through with our video camera, but Google Video is being a bitch right now, so that will have come later.

Screaming Jenny (me) is silenced…for now.
