Andy and I were thinking about not getting a tree this year for several reasons, but they all seemed to work themselves out, and I’m really glad! Even though we don’t have a lot of Christmas decorations right now, I love what little we do have. It’s fun building up this collection with my favorite person in the world!

I had the wonderful pleasure to photograph my long time friend Stephanie and her husband, Sean. She is pregnant, so technically, this is also my first maternity shoot! Sad news (but happy for them!) is they are moving to Portland in a week and a half. Stephanie is a fellow photographer and she is just as good on this side of the camera, too! Thank you to Stephanie and Sean…you two are so in love that it made my job super easy. I’m going to miss you guys, but I can’t wait to hear about all the new adventures you’ll have…especially when Lentil is here!

You can view the entire set here, if interested.

For the past few days I have spent doing what I love to do. Between Crash Boom Bang’s Skits & Giggles show to the Dead Workers Party’s “Screaming Jenny” shoot I have been in HD makeup, had several costume changes, screamed my lungs out, “fallen” from a window on “fire”, acted among friends, rode my adrenaline rushes, and all the while, had the most fun ever.
There are still a lot of shots left for the “Screaming Jenny” music video, but The Dead Workers went ahead and shot my scenes where I catch on fire and eventually plunge out of a window. Of course the mill offered all of the places we needed to shoot: the boiler room for the bellows and where I catch on fire, and the third floor full of windows for me to jump from, and the DWP’s beautiful (and huge) green screen in which they can add the fire and SFX later. It’s so wonderful to work with that crew…I always have such a blast. It’s the perfect balance of professionalism (in which things get done and shot well) to being able to crack jokes and keep the atmosphere light. I can’t wait to shoot again (next location, The Depot downtown) although it will be a month or so before we do. And of course I can’t wait to see the final video.
Along with Joe, Andy took quite a lot of photos during the shoot.

Day One: Boiler Room bellows, spark landing, running, fire

Day Two: Running (to window) on third floor, Green Screen falling from window, Green Screen catching on fire, Final Death and ghost rising

You can see the entire set here
J.D. sent everyone an email last night with a snipit of one of the final shots. This one was really fun to do! They will be adding the fire and other special effects in post production.

On April 18, 2009, Vertical House Records is participating in the Second Annual Record Store Day. Last year we had a great turn out, but this year we want more! So, Andy and I decided to host a Wax Museum! That’s our fancy name for a record show! I really can’t wait, and I think it’ll be a big hit. We go to the Record Show every year at the Holiday Inn in Madison, but we thought it would be really fun to host one ourselves. We already have a few people lined up that are interested in renting a booth.
So, start spreading the word and if you know of anyone that might be interested in renting a booth, send them our way! Any suggestions? Feel free to voice them! We want everyone to have a great time so we can make this an annual thing.
We plan on getting the above fliers printed on a double sided postcard, so perhaps I can call on some of you to help pass them out. ::wink::

Last night the Pine Hill Haints played at Crossroads with The Legendary Shack Shakers. What a night! It was SO much fun and I haven’t danced like that in so long.
Andy took a video of the Screaming Jenny song that Matt sings (with both bands) because I was too busy dancing. I’m really glad he did though, because this will help me get “in the mood” for the music video shoot on the 29th. This song isn’t recorded anywhere (before now), so I had nothing to really help me get into character.

We found the dress that I’ll be wearing at Enchanted Masquerade on Tuesday, so that was fun! I really love working with The Dead Workers because they have such great ideas and execute them beautifully. And last night’s show made me really thankful again that I got the part of Screaming Jenny. eeee I can’t wait for the weekend we shoot!!
