I hope everyone had a safe and wonderful New Year celebration! Andy and I went to Franklin and William’s house. It was a small gathering with some of my favorite people. We celebrated the New Year with beer pong, champagne, and great music. At midnight we sang along to The Flaming Lips song “Do You Realize.” The second song of the year was Radiohead’s “Everything in it’s Right Place.” That is the second time Andy and I have been mid-kiss at the Sammons’ house when that song has come on. It’s always so perfect.
We left around 2:30 in the morning for a very chilly walk home, but it was fun.
Goodbye oh eight, Hello oh nine

A few weeks ago, Ellie, her mom (Tammy), grandmother and I tried to brave the FREEZING winds to do a photo shoot. In the end, we all decided it would be best to try again on a warmer day. After all, this is Alabama, and those mild days appear among our winters.
And Saturday was that day! Ellie is such a sport for the camera…and sometimes even quite the ham. Several times she showed us her fantastic winks and big smile! She was such a pleasure to work with and even a down right riot. Thank you Tammy and Ellie for such a fun day…and Ellie is quite the lucky girl with such a cool tricycle!
I used the fish eye lens during most of the shoot because kids always add such a fun element to it.
You can see the entire Ellie set here

Well, I guess it’s that time of year. Honestly, this year was the first year I actually kinda struggled finding 10 albums that I completely loved inside and out. The first 5 were easy peasy…it was the last 5 that gave me troubles. But, here goes nothing.
1. The Dutchess and the Duke – She’s The Dutchess, He’s the Duke
2. Thomas Function – Celebration
3. Pine Hill Haints – Ghost Dance
4. Jay Reatard – Matador Singles ’08
5. The Counterclock Wise – Wind ’em Up to Shut ’em Down
6. *Radiohead – In Rainbows
6. Dr. Dog – Fate
7. The Cool Kids – Bake Sale
8. Pharmacy – Choose Yr Own Adventure
9. War on Drugs – Wagonwheel Blues
10. Nobunny – Love Visions or the new Times New Viking…it’s a tie
*Edit: Not sure if Radiohead’s In Rainbows can count on this list because it was digitally released in 2007, but physically in 2008.
What’s yours?
