OMGosh The Porcharitas’ first seven inch is almost near completion! Today we approved the recipe card insert (which doubles as the download code) at Allied. All 500 of those will be done tomorrow and that’s the final piece of the puzzle! I’m such a “packaging” nerd and thought it would be fun to include a straw with the 7″ so folks can sip on their ‘rita. Of course I had to up the ante and add a cute flag on the straw. While I only made 250 thus far, that’s enough for the records that need to be ready to ship to all of the places that have pre-ordered or are distributing it. I can work on the other 250 at a slower pace, although it took me less than an hour…and it was fun!

I took a photo every day in March, according to her challenge. March came with a lot of birthday celebrations (Ben, me, Ashley, Nichole, Natasha, Ellis, Jasper). I also witnessed (and captured) the wedding of one of my BFF’s, Kim! We spent an awesome weekend down in Mobile and it was so great to see some of my favorite people that I only see once a year. I need to remedy that. Anyway, here was March!

up, fruit, neighborhood, bedside

a smile (x2! bonus points?), 5pm, something I wore, a window

red, loud, someone I talked to (David and Ellis), a fork

a sign, cloud, car, sunglasses

green, a corner of my home, something funny (Andy said: “I’m not trying to sex you up (unless you want me to) I just wanna listen to some Otis”), before/after (yay for the record wall!)

delicious (a falafel!), kitchen sink, moon, an animal (Porchie)

breakfast, key, your name, trash

feet, toy, and where I relax
And here’s the month of January, February!

I took a photo every day in February, according to her challenge. This was a busy month! We moved our record store from a 900 square foot space to 1571 square feet – a sprawling wonderland of vinyl! So here’s the past month in phonetographs!

my view for the day, words (Nobunny’s set list when he played our store), hands, a stranger

10am, dinner, button, sun

front door, self portrait, makes me happy, inside my closet (wardrobe)

blue, heart, phone, something new (our record store’s new location!)

time, drink, something I hate to do, handwriting

a favorite photo of me, where I work (one place, White Rabbit Studios), my shoes, inside my bathroom cabinet

green, night, something I ate (Andy is a master at cooking okra!), money

…and finally, something I’m listening to
And here’s the month of January!

After three days of heavy lifting and hard work we successfully moved our store to it’s newer (and bigger!) location! When we first started the store (almost FIVE years ago y’all!), we had under 500 LPs. Now Vertical House is home is over 20,000 LPs/45s/78s, and hundreds of CDs, DVDs, and comic books. While we are still getting the last bit arranged (including re-building our counter that Dustin had to take apart to get downstairs), all of the records are in order and able to be perused. This was an extraordinary feat and we couldn’t have done it without the help of friends. To all of the wonderful souls that helped us moved, to the ones that cooked us food or brought us beverages, even to the folks that dropped in with encouraging words and congratulations! We even had friends who couldn’t be there with us sending us happy thoughts. Your sweet actions will not go unnoticed and we can’t thank you all enough for your love and support!

our new address and store-front window!

the last complete photo of the record wall and our store before we began the move

moving out progress

the thing I’ll miss most: these windows

everything piled (and somewhat arranged) in the new space!

celebratory music, champagne, and veggie lasagna!

Et Voila! While the cover artwork is still being done (thanks to T.T.!) the vinyl themselves came in! We have boxes of these sweet ass slabs of wax and I can’t wait to get them out there. The record release show is scheduled for April 23rd, and it will be the first show in our new record store space! AND IT’S WITH PEACH KELLI POP! I’m so stoked! I totally understand that not everyone is into our music, but it’s so much fun playing so that’s all that really matters, right? Fun!
