I got the built in sewing machine table today for $28 and the chair for $6…it was a great find! We have a bottom to our dining room fireplace. Directly under that (now) secured piece of wood is our crawl space. One step closer to becoming a working heatingplace in some form or fashion.
You know who
Today we did it. We bought a washer/dryer! It’s being delivered on Tuesday. I’ve never been so excited to do laundry. I’ hope to spend Wednesday lounging, reading, and washing clothes. Now to start saving for the claw foot bath…

Grey skies that held a violent, windy threat but luckily never released it’s fury.
The second photo makes the moon almost look like an alien spacecraft.

The little kid was hilarious. Wolf Man was also an intense fan that brought laughs.

Our pipes froze the other night. My dad and I spent two days de-frosting them. We’ve got our good ole’ extension cord running upstairs so we can keep an electric heater on the upstairs sink plumbing. We hung a blanket over the opening of the foyer/living room (we should have done this sooner) until we can find the perfect french door set…or until the threat of cold subsides. We’ve also had to use an electric heater in the kitchen, a heat gun to wave in front of the pipes, and the kerosene heater to protect the pipes along the walls. Luckily, it’s going to be a nice weekend because it makes me nervous having all of that going on. I am thanking my stars that we didn’t have a burst. Oh, I still cringe at that thought.

Bedroom. I finally got my white vanity from Andy’s parents’ house. My mom (and dad) gave me that for my 18th birthday and it’s one of my favorite pieces of furniture. She found it at an antique store and said it was screaming my name…I think it fits perfectly with this house.
Bathroom and Santas! The bathroom is (finally) completely painted. It’ll remain the ‘swiss coffee’ color until I can justify spending $850 on wallpaper. Which I will…after we get a sink, bathtub, and washer/dryer. WE DO HAVE A WORKING TOILET now in the bathroom. This is so wonderful. No more midnight trips (literally…I’ve stubbed my toe about 20+ times) up the stairs in the freezing cold just to pee. I’ve also actually fallen asleep on the upstairs toilet waiting for my pee to lure itself out of my warm bladder and into the freezing porcelain.
Dining room and living room. We moved the piano into place in the dining room. It looks so much better here than hidden under piles of blankets in the foyer…avoiding the dirt, dust, and grime of the renovation. The piano was actually the first piece of furniture in the house.
Kitchen. I know nothing really looks that different, but I also finished painting in here…well, aside for one more coat on the back door. And of course we still need window casings, so those will eventually need to be painted. However, it feels good to be caught up on finishing the details.
…and kitties!
