White Rabbit Studios 22.06.
Here’s just a few snapshots from the White Rabbit Studios studio…and a couple of a custom backdrop I made for a Looking Glass photobooth for a recent wedding (which should hit the WRS blog sometime in July).

On May 20th, we celebrated our fifth year of marriage! On the actual night of our anniversary we actually spent it with a group of friends at one of our local favorites, Big Ed’s Pizza. On May 19th, we happened to stop by a thrift store and found a GORGEOUS record player cabinet (with AM radio…so we can get out Coast 2 Coast fix every night). Once Andy made sure it all worked properly (it even plays 78s!) we told the owner of the store that it was an anniversary present to ourselves – and he gave us a discount!
After an early dinner at Thai Garden, we spent the first night with it spinning our favorite records and soaking in the warm sound…amazingly enough, it was also the day my copy of The King of Limbs showed up. What a wonderful record player to be able to listen to the vinyl for the first time! It’s such a photogenic piece, and fits right in with our style!

(still in the store)

(mmm tofu and Radiohead!)

Kelly was actually in town and came by the record store! Betty napped.

Big Ed’s and one of our favorite records!

Last week we decided to hop on the Bottletree train (I wish that was a real thing…) and head to the Spits, TV Ghost, and Really Loud Hamburgers. Since we weren’t driving, we got to let loose a bit more than usual, which made for a really fun night! While the Bottletree is one of my favorite places to see a show, it’s kinda frustrating to go down there an find out all of our friends from Huntsville are pretty much the entire crowd. More folks showed up when the Spits actually went on, but I think they actually drew more people when they played here at the VooDoo Lounge. But like I said, since we didn’t drive, we have no room to complain cause it’s always nice seeing ‘ham friends!

Our friend’s family has an awesome house on the Elk River, right where it meets with the Tennessee. It’s about a 45 minute drive from where we live, but it’s SO worth it. A few car loads of us headed out there a couple of weeks ago and had a blast. We spent the day on the river, had a delicious cook out, and headed back into town for a show in our record store (Strange Boys, Nightmare Boyzzz, and Cute as Hell…mine and Matt’s “band/group/thing”).
We continued the fun the next day and headed to the Flint River, which is only 10 minutes away. There’s a nice clearing with shallow river water and an area to “lay out”. We met two boys that lived around that area and they told us all kinds of crazy river stories and talked about some of the things they’ve found. In fact, they disappeared for a while before returning with a brand new looking fishing pole that they found at the bottom of the river.
After those two days of fun in the sun, we decided we are going to try to go as much as possible…’tis the year for river rats!

For the past few years we’ve gone with our friends David and Ellis to Dog Days Flea Market in Ardmore, Tennessee on Memorial Day. This year we decided to add a destination to our thrifty weekend and we went to the Mountain Top Flea Market the day before. It was two days of early rising, mini road trips, the hot sun, booths of antiques, junk, animals, and more – all in all, it was a blast!

Ellis and David’s cats, Avi and George!

I saw a girl wearing this tank top, and I had to ask her for a pic of it. I’m in a group called Cute as Hell!
Later that evening we rode our bikes to a house/backyard show in our neighborhood. It was awesome, and so many wonderful people showed up! I hope more gatherings like that happen over the summer.

After Steph and I shot an AMAZING engagement session at the Mountain Top Flea Market, I knew Andy and I had to go back and peruse the place in its entirety. During the session, we only spent half an hour there before the heat ran us out. Luckily our friends David and Ellis were eager to check it out that next Sunday after the session, so we were back sooner than we thought. The drive was fun and scenic, but the flea market didn’t really live up to the first two rows that were awesome during the e-session…but of course we didn’t leave empty handed. We scored a LOT of hostas and hydrangeas for cheap, and we basically doubled our shade garden!

We tried fried Oreos and peanut butter cups for the first time (OH EM GEE! so delish!) and I gained a Tom’s tan lol
Weeks ago, our friends Chris and Yuri started restoring a house here in Five Points. They removed a brick chimney and gave away all of the bricks. Andy and I didn’t hesitate to go get a truck bed FULL of bricks to use as garden paths. We’re determined to have a kick-ass yard that won’t cost us an arm and a leg…and free bricks definitely help contribute to that idea!

berries, flowers, and succulents – oh my!

Porchie (the kitty in the photo above) came to help!
Today is officially the first day of Summer…and it’s raining. But you know, I’m ok with this. We’ve been having loads of recently (more than usual now that some of our friends’ work schedules line up perfectly with ours) and I’m actually relieved to be able to sit guilt-free in front of the computer to get some stuff done online. So in between converting RAW files to DNG, editing wedding photos, and scheduling posts for Hi-Fi Weddings, I decided Le Personal Blarg needed an update!
Here are some random shots that have been piling up on the tumblr…you know, the OTHER “blogging” platform I needed to start.

Found those HUGE cans at the Preston Flea Market. We found the shelves (there were two!) on the side of the road in Olde Towne. Thanks rich peeps for throwing out perfectly good furniture!

We’re really thinking about moving our store to the location in the first picture. I’m sure some of you will recognize the building (I’ve been obsessed with it before we knew about the Mill), but I don’t want to say too much in case it doesn’t work out…but it’s pretty perfect. We’ll see what happens. I’m also obsessed with the color of Maple’s eyes. I think we subconsciously chose the goldenrod color of our dining room because it reminded us of her eyes!

Sometimes Tiny loves Sadie…other times she’ll pounce on her. The kitties apparently LOVE sleeping on newspaper. I bought the crazy huge Sunday edition of the paper that had a lot of info about the storms. I can’t read an article without my eyes watering. I still can’t believe how lucky we were.

On Monday our friend, Martin, had her birthday party at Nichole’s. It was an awesome dance party with glow sticks!

NKOTB Christmas album…UM YES PLEASE! This fine piece of wax came into the store today! Also, every time I wear this shirt someone sings Donovan at least once to me.
