‘Tis That Time Again 25.11.

Andy’s Granny came over with his parents today so she could see the progress of our house. She said she loved it! We do still have a lot of loose ends to tie up, but it’s really starting to feel cozy. Our Christmas tree ornaments were being stored at Granny’s house, but she brought them with her. After they left we went to pick out a tree…and did our Sunday Mexican food ritual. We came home and decorated the tree to Sufjan Steven’s Christmas album.

You take such lovely pictures 🙂 What kind of camera do you use? Have you ever taken a photography class?

I’ve recently become interested in photography myself and see that I could definitely use some tips from you!

why thank you 🙂

most of the pics seen on this journal are taken with a sony cybershot. i’m actually not 100% a fan of digital photography…i don’t believe there will ever be a digital camera that captures an image like film. it’s not possible. anywoo, no, i’ve never taken a photo class. i’ve been taking photos (seriously) for the past 8 years. my dad is a photographer, and he’s been my teacher and inspiration.

i think anyone can truly be good at photography. it’s all about knowing your light source, and knowing how the light will capture the image in time. and, of course, you have to make the shot pleasing to the eye.

if you have any questions, i would be more than glad to help out. i’d say the best way to truly learn the art of photography is with a 35mm manual camera. one you can adjust all the settings so you can see how light works to develop an image. even with the very best digital camera you will have some shutter lag and/or not be able to complete adjust every setting.

i’m not totally hating on digital cameras, because i do love how simple it is to upload (develop) the images, but i’ve learned to adjust my shot to make up for the slight shutter lag. but yeah, like i said, i think to understand the whole process of capturing light, you need to be able to learn how your camera’s options can affect the outcome.

the end? haha
