Monte Sano Mountain 04.08.
Today Andy and I took a picnic lunch up to Monte Sano. Although it was 93 degrees at our house, it felt much cooler up there with the trees and a breeze. After lunch, we took a 4 mile hike on different trails throughout the mountain side. We spent most of the day on the mountain, and on the way home picked up some shrimp for dinner tonight. YUM!
We came across the site that once boasted the impressive house of James O’Shaughnessy and his wife. It was built in 1890. We live on O’Shaughnessy (which was named after James) so it was neat to stand where he once stood. I wonder which rooms we would have been walking through. Before the Shag Nasties (Shag Nasty is a nickname among locals for the street) lived there, Robert Fearn had a house built in 1835. These historic markers stood on either side of what was once the entry gate.
