Purgatory Lounge 10.03.

What a wonderful way to spend my birthday! We had a very good day at Vertical House Records during the artist market. It started out slow, but the day certainly picked up. We made well over our rent for the month, so we can rest assured.

Our call for the Purgatory Lounge was at 6pm. We ran through everyone’s songs a couple of times and still had plenty of time to get ready. I sang “Buried Alive” by The Black Lips. My character was a crazy bridesmaid who was in love with the groom. She confronted him the morning of the wedding and they had an altercation…and he eventually hit her over the head with a blunt object, thinking it killed her. Freaked out and unsure what to do, he buried her. However, she wasn’t dead yet.

Here’s my dress rehearsal video. During the show I used way more dirt and I ‘freaked out’ a lot longer…also, I didn’t have that slip up and almost sing the first verse again (heh).

I wore my junior prom dress (from 6 years ago) and Matt bought me cocoa to use as dirt. I think I had the most fun getting ready. Who knew hairspray (for the ‘dirt’ to stick to me) and cocoa could work so well together. I literally had that stuff all over me. Andy got a tasty treat at the end of the night which I dubbed cocoa tits (hah!)

The show was awesome. We had a more than a full house and everyone seemed to enjoy themselves. Andy recorded the whole thing, however, Vimeo won’t let me upload anything more than 500mb. Thankfully, Corey Lee Smith took some fabulous photos of the show (as he always does).

I did upload the ‘guest singers’ of Purgatory Lounge to Google Video. The first part of the show was The Dreaded Firefly and Sweet Lucy (Matt and Summer) playing their set. The middle portion of the show is in the video below, and after the intermission Harvey Pecknpaw (Robert Fitzpatrick) had a stand-up comedy routine followed by 8 or so more songs by Summer and Matt.
