Saturday night we went on the Luminary Twickingham Historic House Stroll. While I absolutely loved being able to see these houses, I was disappointed because 4 of the houses weren’t technically historic. Two were built recently to look like they were built way back when, while the other two were built in the 50’s…but with the same concept – to look<\/i> old. I took photos of what I loved, but I was surprised at how much I hated. <\/p>\n

house #1<\/p>\n

bedroom. love the antiqued lace curtains. i’ve wanted to tea stain lace for sometime now, but this encourages me more-so. i wasn’t crazy for the flooring. it was a stone tile used throughout the whole downstairs of the house. it felt and looked very cold in most all of the rooms except the kitchen…which is the third photo. i absolutely loved the wood counter tops.<\/p>\n

wonderful<\/i> wallpaper. first photo is the entryway, and the second is in a small bath right off the entry.<\/p>\n

very classy christmas decorations.<\/p>\n

master bathroom. the marble tile came from italy. the pattern was laid by hand by someone in hsv. i fell head over heels in love with this bathroom.<\/p>\n

master bedroom – nice and simple. den area – timbers along the ceiling are over 200 years old…and i think their mantelpiece is an interesting choice of art.<\/p>\n

master bath and closet. the bath had a marble floor also, but not nearly as interesting as the previous house’s floor. the closet was massive. it wrapped around completely. what’s behind door number 3? i have a feeling my things would get so lost among all of the similar doors. for some ungodly reason they chose florescent lighting as the main light source in the closet. why would you pick the most unflattering light to get dressed under? another thing, the light ash wood that you see in the closet area was found throughout the entire house. sometimes it lined the walls of a room like in the closet. it looks hideous, in my opinion, of course.<\/p>\n

interesting choice of decorations…i love ’em!<\/p>\n

beautiful floor detail in the entryway. fantastic wallpaper. lovely picture arrangement.<\/p>\n

house #4<\/p>\n

master bed & bath. i loved the crown moldings in the bedroom and the wallpaper in the bath.<\/p>\n

cute doorstop. kitchen was eh. too much tile…made it feel too country.<\/p>\n

it was interesting to go inside of this building. the staircase that leads to nothing was once supposed to connect the old lodge (that was across the street) with the new. however, in the 20’s a storm blew away the old lodge before the two building could be connected. i have my own perception of masons and the illuminate that i won’t go into detail on here, but when a woman asked what the masons did, a mason simply said “we are basically a fraternity.” she responded, “right, but what do you do.” he passed off the question and said a fellow mason would answer her question later in the tour. needlesstosay, her question was never directly answered.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
