Saturday morning Andy and I went on the Historic Home Tour. It was so awesome! And we got to see the Pope House…it was stunning. I was like a kid in the candy store. All of the houses were much more impressive than the ones from the tour in December (was it?)<\/p>\n

They didn’t allow photography in the Pope House or a few of the others, however all exteriors were allowed to be captured. We spoke with the current president of the Pilgrimage Association and when he found out we lived in a Historic home in Five Points, he took our information down. Hopefully one day (next year if we can finish) we’ll be able to have the honor of being on the tour. It gave us a jump start adrenalin to focus on our house more this summer.<\/p>\n

403 Echols Avenue – built in 1814 – oldest documented antebellum mansion in Alabama – classic Greek Revival – 7 acre garden <\/p>\n

*although I couldn’t take photos of the interior, I’ll never forget this house. Stunning wallpaper (some silk!) in just about every room, gorgeous moldings, intricate medallions, original (huge) door locks with their keys, breathtaking hardwoods, and envious-able built-ins.<\/p>\n

527 Franklin Street – garden tour<\/p>\n

*to be honest, it wasn’t that impressive (hence no photos). They did have the original well to the house, but they covered it with a table for “entertaining purposes”. Personally, I think they could have done some things much more interesting.<\/p>\n

Other places on the tour included: 706 Adams Street (ca 18530, 1103 Ward Avenue (ca 1929), 401 Quietdale Drive (ca 1858), and the Church of the Nativity Episcopal on Eustis Avenue (ca 1847).<\/p>\n

That night we rode on the Zach’s bus with Thomas Function, Nichole, Andy Meyers, David, and Adam to a show in Madison at the Insanity Skate Park. It was kind of ridiculous, although fun nonetheless. Especially once the show was over and we were all hanging out at Ben\/Josh\/Andy Meyer’s house…there’s was a good crowd of friends and a lot of interesting conversation. Oh…and Nichole and I started a band (called Cute As Hell) cause we have a (what will probably be the only) song that will top the charts. lol.<\/p>\n

Sunday (today) we built two more raised beds to house the veggies that were beginning to overflow their containers. Luckily, we already had the stuff to build the beds, we just had to make a trip for 13 bags of soil. ugh we really gotta start composting. Especially since we’re going to continue to grow as much as we can, and you can never have enough soil.<\/p>\n
