Saturday…what a day 27.04.
Saturday we went to the Botanical Gardens for the wedding of Andy’s longtime friend, TJ. It was beautiful…and it was my first time there, so we took a walk until the camera died.

Friday night was so much fun. Show went great…and it was awesome to have friends like Steph, Daniel, and Josh added to the equation. And they all want to do the next show…yay! Andy and I stayed ’til about 1:30 in the morning. There was dancing, drinking, fireworks, and several folks still having loads of fun.
Josh drank an entire bottle of Old Granddad whiskey and wow! haha…Andy found him passed out (pictured below) and he was like that for over an hour while all sorts of fun was happening right nearby. Once, I went over to make sure he was still alive, and I touched his arm and he just slid right out of the chair. So I had to hoist him back up and he didn’t even budge. When the time came to go home, we gave him a ride cause he obviously wasn’t driving.

haha!
Steph shot these while we were backstage. My character died with her duet partner (Ben) because half-way through a huge crack rock, they decided to sew themselves together to save money on crack (3 lungs is cheaper than 4). We sang “Steak for Chicken” by Moldy Peaches. It was much fun!
And thanks to Corey Lee Smith (again and always!) for photos:
And the obligatory video…in two parts. The Singers are in the first, and the show after intermission is part two. For some reason I can’t embed them, so links will have to do.
Andy and I had a small get-together BBQ style. It was all last minute, but it was nice to have time to walk to Star Market to get a few necessities before the festivities began. Obviously my camera (again) went missing during the prime of the activity. I only captured our walk and the aftermath of the BBQ. ah well!

Mr. Robert Daniel himself!

I don’t know why I’m so flustered in the cheeks…
This weekend has been very fulfilling thus far. Friday night, Robert Daniel had an art exhibit opening entitled “Coffee Break.” A few weeks back, 10 of us dipped our hands or slung a coffee cup to create a coffee stained splashed background (of our own design) for him to draw our character. He took a few photos of each person’s face for reference. And on Friday we all (and many others) got to see the final piece and the complete project. It’s spectacular! I purchased ours, and I think they will hang beautifully against the blue in our bedroom. I took a few photos…especially since we won’t get them until after his exhibit.
(I know the photo doesn’t accurately represent the size…I’m telling you, these things are at least 20″ X 30″)
Friday night was also Steph and Daniel’s engagement party, which was in our store. It was a lot of fun…and very funny. My camera battery died, so I can’t wait to see what Steph captured. After the party (around midnight thirty) Andy and I went to my office to make copies of what would be our Record Store Day Mix CD cover. When we got home we stayed up until 2am burning cds. It felt like our wedding prep all over again…except this time I was folding the cd sleeves individually out of paper (instead of the convenient slip covers I had for our Wedding Mix).
Saturday morning: 8am rolls around and I’m restless. I went ahead and began burning more cds and folding more paper…and if I had waited any longer to start, we definitely wouldn’t have had enough. When Andy woke up, we took turns monitoring both computers to make sure there was no lull while the other got ready. We stopped by Kroger to get some refreshments and then it was on to Record Store Day Celebration!
By noon thirty we had a nice sized group in the store…and it continued like that throughout the day. There were a ton of new faces, and that’s always great. But especially thanks to all of our friends who made it up there! In retrospect we should have had The Dastardly Do-Nothings play around 1, since that was the crowd that would have enjoyed them the most. Ah well…there’s always next year! All the promotional stuff we got (and put together in goody bags) flew out of our hands. It was awesome. I had fun, and I hope everyone that came did too. It’s awesome to have participated in the first of something like this!
We left the store around 5:15pm and picked up more soil on the way home. We had accumulated several new plants from the Five Points Plant Swap that still needed a soiled home. Plus, we had another raised bed to build and fill. We also had to plant our grapevine and azalea bush. We finished up by dark, and we both had worked up quite an appetite. mmmmm manacotti. And that brings us all up to date…
Well, these past two days have been very interesting.
Yesterday, Andy woke up not feeling so great so he called in. Around 8:30 in the morning we hear loud flapping noises and screeches along with our cats running in the stairwell. Two birds have somehow gotten into our house. We lock Sadie and Maple into a room while we figure out how to get the birds out. One has flown downstairs and is repeatedly trying to escape through the kitchen window. I open the back door, and move towards the bird with a towel. He soon finds his way out the door and is free. The second bird gives us a bit more trouble. 30 minutes worth. Since the stairwell window is super tall, and neither of us could reach high enough to hang a blanket (so it no longer looks like a way to the outside to the bird). I opened the front door and covered the one window I could reach with a towel while Andy tried to get the bird to go out the open part of the window. Long, frustrating story short – after knocking himself around a bit, the bird landed at the bottom of the stairs and kinda wobbled out the front door.
Talk about a wake-up call.
Then! About 20 minutes ago Sadie comes skipping giddily inside with some sort of fuzz in her mouth. I thought she had brought one of the toys we throw about the yard inside, but alas, it was a bird. She dropped it at my feet and starting purring SO loud! I know cats mean well when they bring you “presents” but…
Hopefully we won’t have any more encounters like the above (or anymore oddlings), but there’s no telling. I know I could avoid Sadie (or Maple for that matter) bringing in another bird by not letting them outside, but I just can’t do that. They aren’t indoor/outdoor cats by any means. We just let them play in the fenced backyard when we are home. I couldn’t imagine being locked up inside all the time, so I can’t do that with them.

can’t wait! yay!
I’m doing a duet this time! I was actually supposed to do the duet last time, but Ben had to go to New Orleans at the last minute so I ended up singing Buried Alive. I’m excited about the song this time…it’s funny 🙂
I found the measuring ducks in an antique store for only $2.50. I saw some at Anthropologie for over $15. I love that store so much, but at those prices! Sheesh. It’s best for inspiration and ideas…
Plants in the wheelbarrow…three of which were planted last year and came back!

Can you spot the 4-leaf Clover? and look…5 leaves!!
Look what came into our store today!!!! I squealed! This guy that Andy has known since his CD Exchange days noticed I collect Disney Records (we have them below our store record player, and he was curious what we had set aside for ourselves). Anyway, he brought in Alice in Wonderland (yay!), Robin Hood (I watched this movie everyday for a year when I was younger), and Pinocchio. They are in pristine condition.
What’s really neat is last night I dreamed that I found an Alice in Wonderland vinyl in an antique store. Then today, it comes in! AND I was wearing a Mickey Mouse shirt today. *cue twilight zone theme*
